BEDTIME? BUT IT’S STILL LIGHT! | TWINKL #AD

I know all parents reading this will relate 100%! It’s that time of year you hear this…

Bedtime? But it’s still light!

We spend all winter using the dark as our ali in a bid to get the kids to bed at a reasonable hour. Then the light nights come along and mess it all up!

We’re taking this as an opportunity to really knuckle down on teaching Corben about time. The thinking being, if he can master telling the time, he will know we’re not telling him porkies about it being bedtime.

We’re not crazy, we know what will really happen is that he’ll see it’s 7 o’clock and then like magic need something to eat, a wee and to do that one last thing he’s had all day to do.

Now, I didn’t want to sit down with a clock and just talk at him hoping he’ll pick it up easily, I want to engage him with activities that help explain time in a clearer manner. So I’ve jumped straight to my go to place Twinkl. Yet again Twinkl have a plethora of resources for me to choose from and will have for your child too, they cover all ages/levels.

As we home educate Corben we’re able to ascertain how best to engage him into learning and which methods he responds to best. Straight away the first resource that stood out and we’ll be using was the ‘Telling the Time Ice Cream Cone Matching Activity‘. Corben loves Ice Cream and we need him to learn (when it’s time to shut the hell up and go to sleep) the time

There’s a bunch of other materials we’ll be looking to use to aid us in this mission too, I like the look of  ‘Telling the Time Lapbook Creation Pack‘ also where he can place the hands on the clock himself.

Aside from this topic we’re scouring Twinkl looking for some fun summer activities to do. The weather is really picking up (despite being forecast rain tomorrow as I type this!) and Corben has taken an interest in bugs and other outdoor creatures. We will be looking for activity packs to make our outdoor adventure that little bit more fun and obviously educational, but mainly fun!

Please do let us know about your Twinkl experiences, which activity packs and resources are you using or plan to use this summer?
