DC SUPER HERO GIRLS
My boy sits and watches YouTube a lot, I mean a lot! He’s 3 and has his own tablet hooked up to WiFi and when the mood takes him he gets nice and comfy and watches some of his favourites on YouTube.
Over the last few months he’s really getting into the superhero stuff. He loves Thor and Spiderman. Well he actually calls Thor, Jesus and prefers Venom to the actual Spiderman, Venom is the bad version if you didn’t know, don’t judge my parenting :/ We have no idea where he’s got Jesus from, we aren’t even religious!
As most parents will know, the kids loves watching things however they don’t generally sit watching one thing, or even one full episode, hence the reason why so many children’s programmes are only 10 minutes long on average. There’s 2 things especially that I really like about the new YouTube series DC Super Hero Girls, firstly the episodes are generally no more than 3 and a half minutes yet fit plenty of action in them. Secondly they’re finally promoting the female side of the superhero world. Generally we get all the guys such as Thor, Ironman, Batman, Superman etc and we miss out on all the fantastic female characters there are. Harley Quinn is a great character, Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy are also great DC Comic world personalities. The show really brings out the personalities too and throughout the series they evolve as super heroes, build friendships and from a girls perspective they’re all about the girl power. Our friends have daughters at 2 and 3 and I could imagine them running around before long re-enacting scenes from this series.
Having watched tonnes of episodes I’m amazed how much they fit in to what seems a short length of video. I watch it with my 3 year old boy and he loves it, so boys or girls it’s really just a fun watch and who doesn’t like a show where everyone has super powers?
Definitely give it a watch, the links below and let me know what you think 🙂
