HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK 15.6″ GAMING LAPTOP | REVIEW #AD

I’m at my desk most of the day, most days. I need a laptop that can keep up with my blogging, video editing, general day to day work AND my obsession with Football Manager.

I’m collaborating with AO.COM to review the HP Pavilion Notebook 15.6″ Gaming Laptop.

For context, I’m a full time blogger and video content creator, so it’s normal for me to get lost in a world of editing, emails and button bashing for entire days non-stop. I decided the best way to put the HP Pavilion through its paces would be to use it for an entire week for EVERYTHING I would usually use a laptop for.

Here’s some KEY FEATURES before I get further into my personal thoughts…

Key Features

  • Dedicated GeForce® GTX 1050 2GB graphics
  • 8th gen Intel® Core™ i5-8250u quad core processor
  • 1TB hard drive offers tons of storage space
  • 8GB of RAM delivers seamless multitasking
  • Full HD screen – for a stunning, clear picture

BUILD QUALITY & DISPLAY

Straight away you can tell the HP Pavilion has been built well, it’s sturdy and has a premium feel to it. I definitely appreciated the 15.6″ screen size, coming from a more compact 13″ laptop. The extra 2.6″ did make a difference, especially when gaming, I was offered much more information on screen.

As much as I appreciated the larger screen, it did sometimes in bright daylight seem a little washed out. It was never enough to effect any content I was consuming but something I did notice.

WINDOWS SYSTEM & GAMING

Windows is well, Windows. You get what you would expect to get with a Windows laptop, but where this laptop is a step up is with the 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Processor, the 1TB Hard Drive which is massively helpful for me and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX Graphics.

As far as gaming goes, Football Manager is my go to. Football Manager is notorious for being extremely heavy on your graphics card and the pure size of the game for many laptops can cause things to slow down quickly. This HP Pavilion played FM19 seamlessly and the game was lightening fast, exactly what I expected reading the specs of the laptop to be fair.

The next big thing for me is Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I do lots of photo and video editing and running feature rich programs like Photoshop and Premiere Pro can be a huge task for many laptops. Again, this laptop opened up and edited both photo’s and video’s with ease, which was great as I have a system and was worried at first about changing to a completely different laptop.

EASE OF USE AND BATTERY LIFE

The Windows system I would suggest is familiar to almost everyone that’s used a laptop/PC before, so there was no learning curve here. The system offers all you need to organise work, files and extra programs you may need. I use my laptop as my main computer so can easily spend a full day on the laptop and usually leave it plugged in (Is that even allowed?!) but, for purposes of the review I kept one eye on how long a full charge would last. I don’t have specific numbers as it would be relative to how intensive your use is, but I easily got several hours of solid use with heavy programs running and didn’t once feel it hadn’t lasted long, so battery life is a plus too.

EXTRA’S

I tend to use a mouse with my laptop and it was an easy plug and play process with my mouse. There’s an SD Card slot, Ethernet, HDMI and 3x USB slots too! Oh, not to mention a headphone jack, those things are still around HA!

GENERAL THOUGHTS & CONCLUSION

The build, the familiar Windows system and the extra powerful specs of the HP Pavilion Notebook Gaming Laptop to run important editing programs and games puts this laptop well within the good books. I was able to get through a work intensive work with no hiccups at all, blogging, general web browsing and checking emails were effortless on top of video editing and even getting in some game time with FM19.

I threw all I could at the laptop in terms of my laptop intensive working week and it tackled the lot.

If you’re looking for a laptop that you need to rely on for intensive working weeks and/or hours of heavy editing and/or gameplay, then I can recommend the HP Pavilion Notebook 15-bc400na, to give it the official name. It handled what I threw at it and I hammered it! Not literally!
