Do you ever sit down, have a look around you and take a minute?
It’s all to easy to get wrapped up in all of the mundane parenting tasks that we trawl through on a daily basis grimacing.
Morning routines, school runs, shopping and all the other boring stuff. Before you know it 3 months have passed and you find yourself wondering how the hell the clocks are going back when it was only the summer holidays a minute ago!
Children are like little reminders that time has put it’s foot down on the accelerator. We all know time ticks away at the exact same pace every second, every hour, every day. But then you throw a kid into the mix and all of a sudden an hour seems like a minute and a week seems like a day and the kid is almost as tall as your chest, leaving you scratching your head thinking whether time goes to that magical place where money seems to go!
This happens to me and I’m sure many of you will relate.
Today we were driving back from seeing friends that live 2 and a half hours away and strangely enough that time didn’t fly past, it plodded very much like the M62 rush hour traffic! Anyway, Donetta and I started talking about all the things we’ve done this year.
I set up DadvWorld and began my journey blogging and vlogging. We moved house AGAIN! Abi started high school meaning both girls are now really growing up. We started home educating Corben. I’m now half of Blended Parent Network. These are just a few significant things to have happened, the list goes on. We’ve visited more places this year than either of us have been to our whole lives put together.
I imagine not every year will be quite as busy as this one has been, in terms of significant life changes i.e: moving house (Please don’t make me move again Donetta!) However, I do hope that we can take as many opportunities as possible to really pack in as many activities, days out and general fun stuff in all the years that follow this one.
Our talk left me inspired to write this post and urge everyone reading to take some time out of your busy, hectic parenting lives and have a think about all the easily forgotten trips to the park or days out to the zoo, maybe you’ve moved house or set up something of your own, or even become a parent this year!
Do it…. Sit down, have a think, take a minute.
Let me know what you’ve been up to this year – See you online @dadvworld
