As featured in classic Hollywood films like Easy Rider, the Wild One and even Terminator, biker fashion is a style that just doesn’t seem to change. And why should it alter even in the slightest?
The biker look is basically badass, and adopting it could give anyone a good kick of confidence in their own personal style. But where do you begin? Here’s a cheat sheet containing what could be considered the essentials.
A Timeless Biker Jacket
There are plenty of different biker-style jackets out there, but to truly capture the look the jacket needs to be leather – or at least appear to be leather. It also helps if the type you choose is an iconic jacket in its own right. Studs, zips and padding will all add to the effect. And if you’re worried about the price, it is worth remembering that this is an investment, because the leather jacket look never goes out of style.
A Pair of Tough Biker Boots
The classic biker boot generally includes a metal buckle or two so that it can be adjusted. It is also hard-wearing and just the thing to go with a pair of blue jeans (which we’ll talk about next).
Basic Blue Jeans
The biker look is all about basics, and jeans top the list as far as this is concerned. Just about any style will do, but you could go for the distressed look to add extra authenticity. And if you want to capture that classic 1950s biker style, you could try turn-ups.
A Beautiful Bandana
Bikers are often seen wearing a bandana on their heads, and the good thing here is that there are plenty of gorgeous patterns to choose from. So, while the rest of the biker look is fairly standardised, you can really express your individuality when wearing a banana to keep your hair back.
A Real Motorbike
OK, this might be taking things a bit far. But if you’re going for the biker look, you might want to invest in the ultimate accessory: a motorcycle. There are plenty of different styles to choose from, but you can’t go wrong by opting for a much-loved and highly respected classic like a Harley Davidson. Choose a model that’s right for you and then ride off into the sunset. Vroom, vroom.
Biker style is here to stay. And while it may not be for everyone, it certainly has its merits. So, if you think you can pull it off, you might want to put on a leather jacket, get your motor running and get out on the highway.
